Giving Thanks

As you can tell by the photos, Rocky and I didn't starve this Thanksgiving. We were invited to share the joy of eating with our friend Tanner's rommate's parents. We were also joined by a few other Asheville orphans. It was fantastic. The food was amazing and Matt's mom (Tanner's rommate's mom), made sweet potato pie that tasted just like mine.

So, Rocky and I came to Charlotte. We got to spend one whole day together and then it was over and I had to take her to the airport to meet up with her pal that drove her up to New York. It was very sad. Even the radio chimed in and started playing a farewell song. It was a fast goodbye and I still think it hasn't settled into my brain that our corps has disbanded.

Julia is safely back in California.

We are going to have a welcome back party to celebrate the trip. Jules and I have been coming up with themes all across America. There will be dancing and costumes of some kind. I'll keep you posted.

Sarah, Jules and Rocky, Don't forget those mani-pedis on me!
love, Sarah's mum

Hi, Sarah! Just looked at your map, and was wondering if your stay on a 'real farm' was the one with my friend Sharon Winkelpleck and her husband (can't recall his name right now.) If so, it wasn't Winfield, Kansas. Winfield is in Cowley County southeast of Wichita, near where we used to live. Sharon and her husband actually live just east of Haviland, KS, about a 2 1/2 hour drive in a car west of Winfield. (Winfield's claim to fame is the National FlatPick Blue Grass Festival in September every year.) Hope you get this message, couldn't find your e-mail. Is it good to be home, or what?

Sarah,

I read the postings from your trip and I have to say that you guys are awesome. I really enjoyed Reading about your journey and feel very inspired to do something like this of my own. So thank you for being so brave and adventurous and for sharing. Also wanted to say that I just enjoyed reading the posts in that I reaaly like your writing style. I hope you have a splendid fourth of July weekend. At the moment I'm on my way to Trials. Maybe, if I'm lucky, I'll run into you.

Cheers,
Joey
